When we first found out that Kate had to start eating gluten free, I began trying to replicate our favorite dishes without gluten from the restaurants we could no longer eat at anymore. One of the first restaurants that I set out to copy was Pizza Hut, because I love their pizza! What I particularly enjoy about their pizza is the sauce. After researching on the internet for a while, I finally discovered the following recipe. I love it because it is so simple and uses basic spices that most people already have in their kitchen. (Unfortunately, I went about this research a while back and don’t have the original source to give them credit.)
Pizza Hut Type Sauce
Our version of a gluten free pizza-hut-like pizza sauce!
Ingredients
- 6 oz tomato paste
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp basil
- ½ tsp garlic
- ½ tsp marjoram
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in sauce pan over low-medium heat.
I used this recipe last night when I made a couple of delicious gluten free pizzas. I tried out the Chewy Pizza Crust with Pamela’s Gluten Free Bread Mix for the crust, while using the above sauce recipe for the sauce, mozzarella cheese, and finally some cut up ham for the topping. Both pizza’s turned out great!
